Green produced red tippers

More than 35 years ago, the first Krampe tippers were welded together by means of recyclable truck parts - today it is called „Upcycling".
In the meantime, of course a lot has changed in the way of production and second hand components have not been used for a long time. Then as now, Krampe tippers are very durable and stable in their values - they are made for generations. The exceptionally long durability of the vehicles not only preserves natural resources but also the owner's nerves and wallets.

The fact that the vehicle manufacturer from the Münsterland has, wherever possible, always worked with regional suppliers preserves also resources and protects the climate. "This not only simplifies the communication, but it also avoids long hauls and thus reduces of course the CO2 emissions", explains Jürgen Kocks, Purchasing Director at Krampe and adds "by rolling transport solutions, we reduce waste as well."

And also the energy at Krampe comes from "an own production" or from the neighbourhood.
For more than ten years, a photovoltaic system on the hall roofs supplies energy and covers approximately 150 % of the company's own requirements.

For heating all offices and production halls, Krampe uses district heating from a biogas plant operated by three farmers from the close proximity. During the very cold winter months or load peaks, heat can be generated with the natural gas boiler on the Krampe company premises and fed into the district heating network.

In order to complete this energy mix, Krampe took part to the construction of a neighbouring community wind farm producing green electricity since the beginning of 2020. The last wind turbine was built in February of this year. Now approximatively 15,000 households can be supplied with green electricity from wind power.

In addition to purchasing and energy procurement, the Krampe Fahrzeugbau GmbH attaches great importance to a most possible ecological production. That way, the Krampe vehicles are for example coated by using a special electrostatic painting process. Minimising solvents and avoiding overspray save resources and the environment. The huge drying cabin is heated with district heat from the biogas plant - an ideal combination, especially in the summer months. For the drying process itself, Krampe relies on sufficient time in order to ensure a good cross-linking. These measures contribute to the fact that Krampe has been undercutting the limit values of volatile organic compounds (VOC) for years.

„As a family owned company, we have always been thought, worked and managed in a sustainable way. This also means for us to take care to natural resources but also to our employees. This begins with ergonomic workplaces and goes right up to sport events. A living culture combines appreciation, openness and trust", says Managing Director Robin Krampe.
