Less weight, more payload - The new Krampe KS 950 offroad tipper semi-trailer

After the Krampe KS 900 tipping semi-trailer gave its successful market debut in December 2014, the company now adds a lightweight aluminium version to the range - the KS 950 offroad. This tipping semi-trailer has a significantly reduced dead weight combined with a bigger transport volume.

Courtesy of its low 7,100 kg dead weight, the new tipper offers a whopping payload of nearly 25 t. Rated at a technical gross weight of 34 tonnes, the aluminium trailer boasts a capacity of 48 m³. Yet its low weight does not mean the machine compromises on specification, performance or capability.

The semitrailer can hitch to agricultural trucks with fifth wheel heights of 1,250 mm - 1,580 mm and can take either road tyres for swift highway travel or flotation tyres for field applications. The maximum tyre size is 30.5 inches for agricultural and forestry work.

The robust tipper has a torsion-free and double-braced chassis and offroad axles with disc or drum brakes. Tapering to the rear, the chassis makes for large steering angles and yet benefits from wider front springs for greater stability. The massive air suspension bellows are 360 mm in diameter and combine with the front press and the optional stabiliser scissor jack to warrant greatest stability during tipping.

Typically Krampe, the new KS 950 has a hydraulic tailgate that opens wide and clear as standard specification. The offroad semi-trailer can hitch to agricultural trucks and to tractors via a Dolly, bringing extra capacity to time-pressed harvest chains.

The aluminium semi-trailer KS 950 already gave its debut in the last year’s maize harvest, serving at German biogas farmer H+H Schulze-Icking Biogas GbR. The new model was recently on show at the German agra trade fair in Leipzig, Germany.
